Renshaw rescue lifts Australia to 390 before South Africa stumble late in Durban

Matt Renshaw’s 190 helped Australia recover from 124-6 and reach 390 on the second day of the first Test against South Africa in Durban. His innings put the visitors in control after a lower-order fightback extended Australia’s total deep into the day.

Renshaw shared a 134-run ninth-wicket partnership with Nathan Lyon, who made 26 before Marco Jansen trapped him lbw at 364-9. Renshaw was dismissed soon after tea, edging Simon Harmer to Aiden Markram at slip, while Josh Hazlewood finished with him in Australia’s completed innings.

South Africa began their reply under floodlights and reached 27-1 before bad light ended play. Ryan Rickelton was the only wicket to fall, leaving Markram unbeaten on 15 and David Bedingham on 10.
