Solanke header rescues Tottenham in late 1-1 draw at Manchester United

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur drew 1-1 at Old Trafford after Tottenham recovered from conceding first and equalized late. United had been second best for much of the match before Bruno Fernandes created space for a cutback that allowed Mbeumo to turn and shoot across goalkeeper Kinsky in the 74th minute.

Tottenham responded despite Rodrigo Bentancur being sent off. James Maddison and Micky van de Ven came on in the 74th minute, while Bentancur’s dismissal formed part of a turbulent closing phase that also included several yellow cards and eight minutes of added time.

In the final stages, Tonali crossed from the left and Dominic Solanke fought off Lisandro Martinez to redirect a header into the bottom-right corner. Tottenham had not won a Premier League match after conceding first in 48 games, making the equalizer significant within that sequence.

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi said his team controlled the first half and created three or four clear chances without scoring. He praised the players’ reaction, spirit and character, while also acknowledging that Tottenham had suffered against United’s quality after halftime. Solanke said he had wanted to make amends for missed chances and described his equalizer as a moment of great fight.
