Manchester United and Tottenham drew 1-1 at Old Trafford after a match in which both teams had strong grounds to feel they should have won. Tottenham created the better chances for much of the game, while United improved after halftime and took the lead through Mbeumo’s low finish after Cunha’s cutback.
Tottenham’s missed opportunities included a promising attack when Savio delayed his cross with Solanke and Kudus available in the middle, while Shaw later blocked another dangerous move. United’s first shot on target came through Diallo before halftime, and Yoro was described as the hosts’ best player.
The game descended into a touchline melee in the 77th minute. After Van Hecke collided with Fernandes, Bentancur made a scissor tackle on Shaw and then reacted with a butt after Shaw shoved him in the chest. Bentancur was sent off, but Tottenham still avoided defeat.
The draw extended Tottenham’s run to 48 Premier League matches without a win after conceding first.
