A woman who reported alleged 49ers impersonator Daejon Love to the team in Dec 2025 says she received a generic response and had no further contact; the team had no prior reports before the FBI investigation.
Gwen Herndon submitted a "complaint/concern" form to the San Francisco 49ers website on Dec. 20, 2025, warning that a federal investigation was underway into Daejon Love, who was allegedly posing as a 49ers player and defrauding women.
The 49ers replied on Dec. 27, 2025 from a Levi's Stadium guest‑services account, stating they take impersonation reports seriously, could not comment on ongoing investigations, and urged her to contact law‑enforcement; Herndon reported no further communication from the team.
A 49ers team source told ESPN that the organization had not received any reports about Love before the FBI contacted them in August 2026, and a 49ers spokesperson declined to confirm the email’s existence, citing the ongoing FBI probe.
Federal authorities arrested Love and alleged partner Taylor Chan on Aug. 24, 2026, charging them with wire fraud and conspiracy; FBI filings say Love was never employed by the 49ers or the NFL and that the team cooperated fully. It remains unclear whether the December email was reviewed internally by the 49ers.
