Phil Foden scored a hat-trick as Manchester City defeated AEK Athens 5-1 on Tuesday, recovering from their 4-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the previous round. Elliot Anderson opened the scoring before Foden struck twice in the first half, while Rayan Cherki added a third after Stavros Pilios briefly reduced the deficit. Foden completed his treble with two second-half goals.
PSG also responded strongly after beating City, overcoming Barcelona 4-2 at the Parc des Princes. Désiré Doué put the hosts ahead in the 38th minute, but Xavi Espart equalised nine minutes after halftime. Lucas Hernández restored PSG’s lead from a corner before Lamine Yamal levelled again in the 79th minute.
Barcelona’s recovery lasted only two minutes. Vitinha made it 3-2 in the 81st minute, and Fabian Ruiz finished the scoring four minutes later. The defeat was Barcelona’s first of the season, while PSG maintained their perfect start to the league phase.
Napoli edged Bodø/Glimt 4-3 in a seven-goal contest. Matteo Politano scored the opener, and Scott McTominay added two goals as Napoli recovered control after the Norwegian side fought back. Sondre Brunstad Fet scored the decisive fourth goal late in the match after the ball struck the crossbar.
The night’s other completed matches included Liverpool’s 4-3 comeback against Villarreal, Roma’s 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava and PSV Eindhoven’s 1-0 victory at Porto. The third matchday continues the league phase, which runs through January 2027.
