Hadjar to stay as Verstappen's Red Bull team-mate for 2027

Isack Hadjar will remain Max Verstappen's Red Bull teammate for the 2027 season.

Isack Hadjar, the 21‑year‑old French driver promoted to Red Bull’s senior team this season after a rookie year with Racing Bulls, will stay as Max Verstappen’s teammate for 2027. His best result this year was a third place at the Monaco Grand Prix, and his qualifying pace has been the closest to Verstappen’s since Daniel Ricciardo in 2018.

Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies described the extension as “an easy decision”, praising Hadjar’s performance on and off the track and noting his composure during his first weekend in Melbourne. Mekies said the move shows Red Bull’s belief in Hadjar despite a broken wrist that forced him to miss the past three races; Hadjar will return at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Over the first half of the season Hadjar was on average 0.239 seconds slower than Verstappen in qualifying and out‑qualified the Dutchman three times – in Australia, Japan and Britain – with the other instances affected by Verstappen’s engine issue and a crash. Verstappen himself signed a two‑year extension that now runs to the end of 2030.

The available reporting does not provide further details on the length or financial terms of Hadjar’s contract or any additional team plans beyond the 2027 season.
