At least eight Palestinians, including an eight-year-old girl, were killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza on Saturday, one year after a US-backed ceasefire took effect. Shahd Abdul-Razzaq al-Najjar was killed by a quadcopter drone in western Gaza City.
Four people were killed and several others injured in a separate bombing near Haider Abdel Shafi roundabout, al-Shifa Hospital said. Another person was killed in a drone attack in Gaza City’s Tuffah neighborhood, while one person was killed in northern Gaza and a woman died from injuries sustained earlier in the day in Khan Younis.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said at least 1,481 Palestinians have been killed and 5,254 injured since the ceasefire began on October 10 last year. It said Israeli attacks killed at least nine people and injured 65 in the previous 24 hours, with another person dying from earlier injuries.
The continued deaths a year into the ceasefire indicate that the arrangement has not eliminated the immediate danger to civilians.
In the occupied West Bank, 12 incidents of settler violence were recorded Saturday morning. Farmers were reportedly beaten and pepper-sprayed, property and phones were taken, homes were attacked, and some Palestinians were detained with the involvement of Israeli forces.
