ITA Offers Broad U.S. Defense Exposure as NASA Targets the Emerging Space Economy

The fund’s quarterly distribution schedule and long operating history distinguish it from newer, more specialized space funds.

NASA began trading in March 2026 and is actively managed rather than index-tracking. The fund traded on the NYSE and invested across the global space economy, including launch systems, satellite communications, space infrastructure and related technology.

Other top positions included Filtronic, Universal Microwave Technology, Viasat, Firefly Aerospace, MDA Space, Intuitive Machines and Voyager Technologies.

The SpaceX position is held through a special purpose vehicle because the company is private. Because that position is marked using the most recent transaction price rather than continuously updated public-market prices, its reported value may not move in lockstep with NASA’s intraday market price.

The central distinction is therefore structure and scope. ITA is the larger, cheaper and older fund centered on U.S. Aerospace and defense companies, while NASA is a smaller, costlier and actively managed vehicle with concentrated exposure to commercial space companies and a private-company holding.
