Indian shares opened higher on Monday, with the BSE Sensex gaining 462 points (0.6%) to 74,756 and the NSE Nifty edging up 46 points (0.2%) to 23,391. Brent crude fell below $102 a barrel as diplomatic efforts raised hopes of easing West Asian tensions.
Among the top gainers were Trent, Eternal, Indigo, Asian Paints, Sun Pharma, HCL Technologies and UltraTech Cement, each rising 2‑3 percent. State‑run oil marketer BPCL climbed over 2 percent as oil prices extended losses for a fourth day amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the U.S.-Iran conflict.
G R Infraprojects jumped 2.2 percent after issuing an update on the Agra‑Gwalior greenfield road project. Entero Healthcare Solutions advanced 1.9 percent following a 3.2 percent stake purchase by HDFC Mutual Fund. VIP Industries rose about 1 percent on fund‑raising reports. Apollo Pipes surged 1.8 percent after entering the ceramic tiles sector through an acquisition, and Welspun Corp added 1.7 percent after securing a contract worth roughly Rs 2,000 crore from Saudi Aramco.
