AMD hits $1 trillion market cap for the first time as stock rides 5-day rally

AMD's shares surged 9% to a $613. 92 intraday high, lifting its market value above $1 trillion for the first time.

AMD stock jumped 9% on Monday, reaching an intraday high of $613.92 and pushing the company's market capitalization just above $1 trillion, marking the first time it crossed that threshold. The move extended a five‑day winning streak that has delivered roughly a 24% gain.

The rally followed AMD's second‑quarter earnings, which beat expectations. Revenue for the quarter was $11.54 billion, a 50% increase from $7.69 billion a year earlier, driven by artificial‑intelligence chips. The Data Center unit posted sales of $6.7 billion, up 107% year over year.

Despite the stock’s more than 180% rise this year, AMD remains far behind AI‑chip leader Nvidia, whose market cap is about $5.4 trillion. CEO Lisa Su said the company expects to double data‑center sales by 2027, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said he expects his firm to double the number of chips it sells next year.
