Solana 's (CRYPTO: SOL) Alpenglow upgrade went live on Oct. 21, and it came with quite a bit of hype behind it. Brennan Watt, CEO of Anza, one of the companies that engineers the Solana blockchain, called Alpenglow "the largest, most ambitious blockchain upgrade" since the Ethereum Merge in 2022. You wouldn't know it from the reaction in the crypto market. Since the upgrade, Solana is down 4%. While blockchain upgrades can be exciting news, they rarely drive immediate gains for a few reasons.
