Former Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif argued diplomacy and economic opportunity should replace confrontation as Tehran's primary security strategy.
The ultraconservative _Kayhan_ newspaper accused Mr Zarif of undermining national security and helping Washington.
