Finnish director Miia Tervo's third feature, "You Crazy Thing," starring Pihla Viitala and Adam Pålsson, debuts first‑look stills and explores a mental‑health nurse's life and themes of class, identity and being seen.
Variety reports that Finnish filmmaker Miia Tervo is preparing her third feature, "You Crazy Thing," which follows Aino, a mental‑health nurse who organizes a talent‑show performance with her patients. The film examines how class, identity, love and the desire to be seen intersect with mental‑health challenges.
Tervo says the story draws on her mother’s 37‑year career in a Lapland mental hospital and reflects her own experiences as a recovering alcoholic. She describes the project as a "dark yet warm dramedy" that gives space for both professional and amateur actors to be themselves.
The production is led by producer Marko Talli for Yellow Film & TV, with co‑production support from Paloma Production in Denmark and Garagefilm International in Sweden. The announced cast includes Pihla Viitala, Adam Pålsson and Clara Dessau.
The available reporting is limited to this exclusive interview and first‑look stills released by Variety.
