Daisy Edgar-Jones says childhood summers in County Fermanagh’s fields helped her prepare for playing Elinor Dashwood in the new Sense and Sensibility film.
Daisy Edgar-Jones, 28, recalled spending long summers wandering the fields of County Fermanagh, where some of her family live, and said the experience of “wandering around, with not much to do, under the big sky” helped her on the Sense and Sensibility journey.
The new film adapts Jane Austen’s 1811 novel, casting Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood opposite Esmé Creed‑Miles as Marianne. It is produced by Focus Features and Working Title and opens in cinemas on 25 September.
Irish talent features prominently: Caitriona Balfe plays Mrs Dashwood, Fiona Shaw appears as Mrs Jennings, and Bodhi Rae Breathnach portrays the youngest Dashwood sister. Balfe highlighted the film’s sisterly dynamics and expressed pride in Irish artistic output.
