Apple TV Finally Schedules Jessica Chastain-Led Thriller ‘The Savant’

Apple TV postponed the Jessica Chastain‑led thriller ‘The Savant’ to Spring 2027 after the Sept 10 killing of activist Charlie Kirk, despite Chastain’s public disagreement.

Apple TV removed the Jessica Chastain‑led thriller “The Savant,” originally set to air on Sept. 23, and announced it will now debut in Spring 2027, after the November midterm elections. The company said the decision followed “careful consideration” in the wake of the Sept. 10 assassination of far‑right activist Charlie Kirk.

Chastain, who stars in and executive‑produces the series, posted an Instagram statement rejecting Apple’s pause. She cited a series of recent violent incidents in the United States and argued that the show’s focus on “heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens” makes its release more urgent, while expressing hope it will reach audiences soon.

The series follows Chastain’s character, Jodi Goodwin, a veteran who infiltrates online white‑supremacist forums to thwart domestic terror plots. Creator Melissa James Gibson adapted the premise from a 2019 Cosmopolitan story by Andrea Stanley.

Variety TV critic Aramide Tinubu described Apple’s move as a mistake and an example of “business giants … running scared of the Trump administration.” Eight days after the postponement, FBI Director Kash Patel announced on X that the agency depicted in the show would be dissolved, adding commentary about James Comey and the ADL. The available reporting is limited to this Variety article.
